Our Pompous President
June 23, 2009
I know there must have been millions of housewives and even a few men folk who must have been disappointed at 12:30 p.m. EDT when their favorite soap opera, “The Young and the Restless,” did not come on. The reason the television viewers were denied their helping of vicarious angst was that the narcissist in chief, Barack Obama, wanted to do some damage control to the possibility his pristine image might be a little tarnished.
And why should there be any diminution of the sparkling reputation of the anointed one? In part, I think the answer lies in his reaction to the Iranian voter fraud violence experienced by the many good people of that tormented country.
Obama had heard enough. So in typical imperious style he commanded the airways by merely announcing a White House Rose Garden press conference at 12:30 p.m. Now if it were George W. Bush who had held a press conference at such a disadvantageous time, CBS and the other networks would not have cancelled their revenue-producing programs, but would have left it to the three cable news networks.
So Fox News Channel, MSNBC, and CNN would have been the only outlets broadcasting the anointed one’s self-serving answers and rambling preening of the 44th president who, day by day, becomes more impressed with himself and more pompous.
The more I see of the president and the more I hear him, the more fascinating he becomes. I’m sure his many fans out there will make something of this last statement and conclude that it reveals a flaw in my mental profile. I really don’t care. And furthermore, I am not the president of the United States, so my psychological well-being is not crucial to the future of the planet.
However, a well-known psychologist quoted in the magazine Whistleblower, says in part that he believes Obama’s core beliefs reflect fundamental misunderstandings of human nature and of how to maximize human potential, both individually and collectively.
That’s why I think it’s critically important, now more than ever, to understand Obama’s core beliefs and to realize that if we embrace them fully, we’ll be well on our way to becoming the U.S.S.A.
Ya got that, comrade?
