My Message to Rick Santorum

March 23, 2012

Not too long ago, I had asked a woman from Pennsylvania what she thought about Rick Santorum. Knowing that she was as conservative and as Republican as I am, I was surprised at her response. She said, “He is the worst. Those of us who know him best have nothing but contempt for him. He is not an honest person and certainly would not hesitate to stab a fellow politician in the back.” That was a few weeks ago, but I have learned what a tawdry character Santorum is. He is a jealous weasel who actually would rather see a fellow Republican defeated by the despicable Barack the Boastful.

Can you imagine he is actually one step away from campaigning for Obama? But, lest you think I am exaggerating, I suggest you read his statements made the past few days. Rick Santorum has every right to campaign for office. But, he does not have a right to sabotage the party he claims to be a member of. He has shown, at best, that he is totally immature. He is like the kid who says, if I can’t bat clean up, then I will root for the other team. Rooting for the other team is bad enough, but damaging your alleged team is unheard of. Santorum has gotten where he is because he played up to the evangelical wing of the party. No doubt those well-meaning but shallow people think Santorum is one of them. The fact is Santorum is not with them and he certainly is not for the American people. If he were for the American people he would know that by doing what he is doing to undermine and destroy the man best able to defeat Barack Obama, he is insuring four more years of the destructive policies of this most destructive president in American history.

And let me point out the basic difference between two Romney opponents: Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum. After Santorum’s tirade against the former Massachusetts governor, Gingrich tweeted, “ Rick Santorum is dead wrong. Any GOP nominee will be better than Obama.” Now I know why I never liked Santorum. You don’t stab your fellow Republican in the back. Now I know why the people of Pennsylvania sent him down to a 17 percentage point loss when he was kicked out of the Senate in 2006. I hope everyone who reads this will send Santorum a message . . .get out of our party! You don’t belong in the GOP.
