Finally the Libyans Got Gadhafi

October 21, 2011

I will never forget my fans. I don’t like to refer to all those considerate, loyal people out there in radioland as fans, but how else should I refer to all of them? They are the ones who listen to my two hour Sunday show on WABC, and who for many years listened to the Bob Grant Show when I was “the king of talk radio in New York,” to quote The New York Times. That was back in the early 90s, even after I had exploded on the radio scene in New York in late 1970. Since I know of no other way to refer to the many people flooding me with e-mails, I call them fans. I hope that is alright with them.

What occasions this verbal pirouette? As you may have noticed, Moammar Gadhafi was killed by Libyans on Wednesday, who had 42 years of Gadhafi’s tyrannical rule. He was killed in his home town of Sirte. As soon as many people heard the news, they claim the first person they thought of was me. I recall one e-mail from a man named Stanley. He lamented that outside of one local program on WABC, no one called me on the air to talk about the fact that Bob Grant, and Bob Grant alone, was talking about “getting Gadhafi.” It is really not important. What is important is that at long last this ruthless mass murderer has been removed from the planet.

But, do not rejoice too much. You must be mindful of the fact that there are people everywhere who mean no good to us. There are now, there always have been, and there always will be people who wish us harm. Even our own leader, Barack the Boastful, although he may not employ the means Gadhafi and other dictators have used, does not mean us to have a good life. I believe if he gets a second term, which I have predicted, within six months you will see more of your freedoms taken from you. This man has shown his utter contempt for the separation of powers bequeathed us by our Founding Fathers in the United States Constitution. He has demonstrated that contempt many times. And human nature, being what it is, he will be bolder when he gets a second term. He will think, “Look how much I lied to them in my first term, and they gave me another four years . . . I can do no wrong.”

Folks, it will be your fault if Obama gets that second term. I shudder to think what people will write to me when that happens. I will never say, “I told you so!” I am saying it in advance. Pleasing make me take it back.
