We Deserve Defeat

June 20, 2011

I have been reading a great deal lately about the wooing between our erstwhile major enemies: China and Russia. It seems like such a long time ago that we in the United States and most of the west lived under the perpetual and ominous cloud of the Cold War. When it came to Russia, we didn’t even refer to that nation as Russia. Instead, we talked with trepidation about the Soviet Union. And as for China, it was the quintessential bogeyman. Mao Tse Tung was the devil incarnate. Then Richard Nixon had the foresight and the courage to go to Beijing and meet with the Chinese Communist leaders. Eventually the Soviet Union collapsed and the Cold War was over.

In no time, it seemed that the big threat became Islamic extremism. Is that a redundancy? It wasn’t the Soviets or the Chinese who destroyed the World Trade Center and almost destroyed the Pentagon. It was a group of fanatics who preferred to die while crashing American civilian airliners into American buildings killing innocent Americans. The new enemy of our country was Islam. No matter what opportunistic politicians may say, our enemy is Islam. Until the leaders of those Islamic countries speak out in opposition to the hostile and threatening posture of most of those Arabic countries, we have to acknowledge that our enemy is Islam.

Having said that, I am thinking of my mindset in the post World War II era. At that time I was a member of the United States Naval Air Reserve. I would have gladly fought any enemy of the United States. But, now what is there to defend? What is there to fight for? When a Texas state senator has to ask a witness at a hearing to speak English and asks the interpreter how long this person has been in the United States. When he is told the individual has been in this country since 1988 and this person has no desire to speak English — what country is this anyway? And why should we Americans be defensive about demanding everyone speak English? And yet there are those jackals who are calling this senator all sorts of names.

I really don’t think there is any nation to defend. So I say, since there is no more United States of America, what is there to fight for? And whose fault is it that there is no USA? It is our fault. We deserve the fate of all cowards . . . defeat!
