Casey Anthony Trial: a Travesty of Justice

June 23, 2011

I had to turn off my television set. I could not stand looking at the evil, soulless face of Casey Anthony a moment longer. I could not stand listening to the lies told by Casey’s mother. In short, I cannot stomach the fact I live in a country where the lawyers and special interest groups have so twisted the rules so that the guilt or innocence of the accused is no longer what matters. What matters, even by the admission of defense attorneys, is that the pathetic, brain dead juries can be made so confused and disoriented that a killer can walk free and justice is denied.

The most egregious example of the failure of our justice system was sickeningly displayed when the jury in the O.J. Simpson trial uttered the words “not guilty.” That was on October 3, 1995. The obvious guilt of Simpson was meaningless. His guilt was totally ignored because the jury was not going to convict a black man, especially one who had been considered a football hero, and everybody knew it. Only recently has it become safe to say that. There were many instances where people were interviewed by the press and pretended the race factor was not really crucial to the outcome. Yet, when Johnnie Cochran said, “If the gloves don’t fit, you’ve got to acquit,” the rules of evidence, the testimony of experts, and the responses of witnesses didn’t mean a thing.

After the city of Los Angeles spent all that money, which was taken from the taxpayers, to put on an exercise in how to so muddy the waters a clean, honest legally based verdict was denied the people of America. Since that day I have not felt the same about this country I so dearly loved. As I watched the farce in the Orlando, Florida courtroom, I almost got physically sick. I could easily strangle that monster on trial. But, I fear once again a high profile case will make a mockery of our Constitution.

When suddenly people are no longer asking how could Casey Anthony do such a horrible thing as torture and murder her three year old darling daughter, and then ask a totally tangential question like “who is the father?” Those types of questions tell me we are too immature to conduct a serious trial. So, I had to turn the television set off and I hope I can keep from watching this monster, Casey Anthony, any more.
