A Reader's Letter
I would like to share with you who read www.BobGrantOnline, the following e-mail I received from “Alex of White Plains.” He is one of many devoted listeners who also happens to be one of the most informed callers to the Bob Grant Radio Show I have ever heard from.
He is especially well versed on issues concerning the Middle East and has been aware of the dangers to not only the United States but to Israel, due to the election in 2008 of Barack Obama.
I implore any of you who read his letter to please let me know your reaction to it.
Alex, unfortunately, is one of the very few who are being heard. So many of you are out there, but choose to remain silent.
I do believe that most, if not all of you, will second this message. Thank you and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Great to hear from you. I returned two weeks ago and have been listening to your show on the Internet abroad since my return.
I did try to call in this past Sunday, in the first hour, but the telephone went unanswered. It was, as usual, a great show.
Fortunately, while I was in Israel, I was able to keep up with your shows through podcasts and your website, www.BobGrantOnline.com, which just keeps getting better and better. In fact I was hoping you would consider posting my letter on your website.
One question I was frequently asked in Israel was, “What do you miss most in the USA?”
Along with family and friends, I would always include The Bob Grant Show in my response. It may sound odd to some but your show (show doesn’t really describe it) is really a convocation for those who treasure freedom and true American ideals. It is a place where everyone gets a chance to step up to the plate; where the ability to speak one’s mind is considered sacred; where you proclaim proudly, “Let’s be heard” and live by that credo.
I have been a fan for more than 30 years and a caller for 20. In those years, we have talked about many things. Yet now, more than at any time in the past, I think there is one subject that trumps all others. And that subject is the attack on America from within and at the hands of elected leaders at the highest levels.
For almost two years, I have been sounding the alarm regarding a statement made by the president in his Cairo speech on April 14, 2009: “No single nation should pick and choose which nations hold nuclear weapons.”
No reason was given for making this pronouncement and no real discussion in the media took place after it was made. No reporter asked who was consulted before the statement was included in the president’s speech.
Congress, the Joint Chiefs, the intelligence community, where caught by surprise with this policy reversal. Since the end of World War II, nuclear non proliferation by any means necessary was policy. Now, for no apparent reason and no benefit, the President of the United States, Barack Obama, has opened the nuclear Pandora’s box.
Since then and throughout the Middle East, the rush to acquire nuclear weapons has been on. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Libya, Egypt and Jordan have announced nuclear initiatives. Only Iran had a program that predates the President’s speech.
Americans may have felt that these events half a world away would not impact them. Of course, nuclear materials in the hands of unstable governments could easily find their way to our shores, even after the attack on September 11, seemed remote.
Now, Bob, those chickens have come home to roost. Last October the Russians signed an agreement with Hugo Chavez to build two nuclear reactors in Venezuela.
Of course, Venezuela sits on the largest oil reserves in South America and has huge uranium deposits as well.
Why would a nation with those reserves seek nuclear energy?
The answer becomes obvious. In November Iran and Venezuela signed an agreement for the Iranians to ship ballistic missiles to Venezuela, build fixed and mobile launch facilities in Venezuela, and man them with units from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
These are nuclear missiles within striking distance of American cities controlled by Iran. Can there be a greater threat to America?
What do we see from the media? Silence. What do we see from the president? Lack of concern.
Bob, more than at any time I can remember, America is at risk. Not only are our enemies external but we are led by those who either are incompetent or worse.
I can imagine your show and others who follow in your footsteps, will see unprecedented pressure to silence dissent and withhold information. I know that you will not fold like a cheap camera because you never have.
I hope others, your loyal listeners and other broadcasters, stand strong as well.
It is great to be back, Bob, and one of the best parts of being back is The Bob Grant Show.
