Royal Wedding: Do You Care?
November 22, 2010
I don’t know how you feel, but I never hesitate in telling anyone exactly how I feel.
First of all, let me get the unimportant stuff out of the way. I wish they would do a scientific poll on what percentage of the average American citizen really cares about the fact that Prince William of the United Kingdom is going to marry a woman by the name of Kate Middleton.
I have seen them together on television so often lately, I have the vague feeling I must be a British subject. Here in America, in a land rescued from King George III, we are not subjects, but citizens.
Don’t get me wrong, I will be the first to admit it is better than looking at Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. But, I really want to know, as it pertains to the Prince and his intended, who really cares?
Since they first announced the wedding would take place, we have seen them repeatedly on television. Of course, we also keep seeing the sapphire engagement ring that Princess Diana wore. This is the ring that William gave to Kate for their engagement.
OK, enough already! Do the television networks know something we don’t? Maybe they don’t believe we are no longer part of the British Empire.
Goodness knows, I told you this was not an important story, and here I am going on and on. Enough of that, old chap!
Yesterday I interviewed a bright lady by the name of Sally C. Pipes. Pipes is from Canada. She knows what a failure the highly vaunted, much ballyhooed Canadian healthcare system has been.
More importantly, this woman has lived in America since 1991. She points out that there are many things in the Obama healthcare bill that the Obama gang doesn’t want us to know.
This health bill is so onerous and destructive to the American people that Nancy Pelosi said, “We will find out what’s in it after we pass it.”
In the history of the republic, no politician has ever had the gall and the stupidity to say such a foolish thing. And yet, Pelosi said it and there was hardly a peep from anyone.
Is this what has happened to the American people? Are they that ignorant?
I don’t think so. I will tell you why I do not despair as I did prior to November election. The Republicans made an historic triumph in picking up 64 congressional seats and should have taken the Senate were it not for some needless mistakes in three or four states.
Harry Reid, who in my opinion is a certified moron, should have been thrown out, but the Tea Party folks, without meaning to, did sabotage the GOP.
But, rather than gnash teeth over it, let us look ahead to 2012 and hope that we can nominate a winner who will send Obama back to the neighborhood in Chicago where he can go back to his community organizing.
Let us focus on that!
